The Grand Opening Weekend has arrived!  Everything went well, more or less.  A few technical difficulties were not enough to deter us from listing the items as close to midnight as possible.  Official launch time was 1:30 a.m.  Thank God that I work best during the wee hours of the morning.

I secured the name for My Etsy Shop in November 2010.  I deliberately waited to today, January 15th, to begin listing my products for several reasons.  First, I did not want to do a rush job with creating and listing my items.  Anyone who knows me knows that I do not do things halfway.  I need my “pageantry” as my husband calls it.  I take great care to crochet my products so that the recipient has a quality item.  Also, we wanted to build up some hype for my Grand Opening Weekend.  My Facebook status updates on my personal page and on the Interwoven Creations by Crystal fan page attest to the hype-building.  Lastly, and most importantly, we wanted my Grand Opening Weekend to coincide with the birthday of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dr. King is known in the mainstream as a “dreamer.”  His “I Have a Dream” speech is arguably his most famous one.  However, Dr. King was more than a dreamer.  He was a radical, a fierce lover of community (not just the black community) and a champion for the oppressed, God’s people.  So today and Monday, when we observe Dr. King’s birth as a national holiday, look beyond the dreamer status that people have placed upon him.  Learn more about the radical, loving and champion aspects of this great man.
